PSIONIC SCI FI

The inevitable fusion of man, machine and the paranormal

The Universal Government has found an enticing strategy to bolster cooperation and membership. Each planet remains free to determine for itself what constitutes an unacceptable faction. The Universal Government will remove the members of that faction and employ them on the Hive Planet.

Workers of the Hive are addicted to a wonderful and all-encompassing drug that can only be earned by working, thus converting each planet's formerly unproductive and dangerous elements into a universal workforce that provides the ultimate interplanetary temp service across a truly universal web.

Since its creation, only one person has ever escaped the Hive Planet: A newborn, fully implanted with compu-link interface temple plates, but not yet introduced to the drug. He now leads a Dark Ops unit for The Gov on a mission to uncover a psionic ring of criminals who have inexplicably taken control of an important Government Ambassador.

What they find will change the universe.

Mary Andrews was born in Salina, Kansas but was raised in England, Hawaii, and Texas as a member of a military family and is the eldest of seven children. She has three sons who have grown into good men, and she has been happily married for over ten years.

Mary is an unconventional thinker who has no trouble dwelling 'out of the box.' Her favorite all around question is: WHY, since once you find the answer to that, everything else makes more sense and can be dealt with. She claims little fear of change: in fact, she has adventured through many career choices, testing the waters of the mechanic, assembler, receptionist, puppeteer, artist, merchandiser, customer service attendant, structural aircraft worker, relay operator for the deaf, mother, a Gypsy merchant, and finally realizing a love for writing and a need to infuse life into inanimate objects.

She can't wait to see what happens next.

Or in her own words:

"I am a half crazed semi psychotic wanna be writer with delusions of grandeur and a propensity for bringing inanimate objects to life, inspired by years of suffering and putting up with my cats, I find it very easy to recreate better and more interesting places to live in. My main philosophy involves perseverance. Last man standing wins-sooner or later."

"A collection of three short stories which introduces each of the main characters, The Fireborn Chronicles is the first in a series of young adult novels. Author Mary Andrews brings each character to life independently, and then seamlessly blends them into a team of characters that continue to build off of each other. As an avid Sci Fi reader, I eagerly await her next book in the series, Book II of the Fireborn Chronicles, which is due to be released in late 2008."

"There are endless possibilities for what this team can accomplish and the adventures they can be a part of. The Fireborn Chronicles has the feel of being the beginning of a series, and, frankly, I'm glad because I want to see more of this team. However, the ending puts a big question mark as to what purpose that team will have in the future. Perhaps in the next installment, we'll all find out. I don't think we've seen the last of Rael and his Dark Ops team. "

"Mary Andrews has quite a few surprises in store for the reader as this is one sci fi book chock full of twists and turns. Give THE FIREBORN CHRONICLES: FIREBORN FOUND time to develop as the story is certainly worth it once you see how all of the pieces fit together! This is definitely a pure science fiction book and I suspect that fans of shows such as Star Trek will enjoy this one."

"The story has a great ending and also sets up a situation for a sequel. I would like to read a sequel if it is published. I did like the characters and the blend of skills to make the team is fascinating, it will be fun to see what Ms. Andrews will come up with for them next. This is one of those stories that just has a lot of setup before you get to the main story but it is worth it when you do get there!"

"The Fireborn Chronicles lead you to many different cultures of the future. Our intrepid characters have several adventures that bind them together and lead to the ultimate goal of one ruling the universe. Read to find out whom and see if you can figure out the goal before the end. This is a great read although not hard core. For all of you hard core Sci-Fi readers, if you want to read something so as not to think about it; here you go. Even people that do not think they would like a Sci-Fi story can enjoy this book for the adventures. Check it out and enjoy."

"Mary Andrews is a master storyteller who weaves science fiction elements, well drawn characters, and an outstanding plot into an exciting and suspense-filled story that will completely draw the reader into Rael's world. Just when I thought I knew what was going on, the plot thickened, and new twists and turns led me to new conclusions. And the ending...an unexpected and amazing way to conclude the first book in this series and set up Book II, which is due to be released by Swimming Kangaroo Books in September 2008.
