Romance Author - Katherine Kiss What is it? A micro-blogging, month-long Whodunit? How does it work? For the month of June, 53 short clues will be released via Facebook and Twitter. Write down the clues, keep track of the characters, and at the end of the month after the final clue is released send in your guess for who did it (You only get one guess!). What's in it for me? The first five people to send in the correct answer will receive their choice of any print book in our library. Any people after that sending in the correct answer will receive their choice of any e-book in our library. Also, bragging rights. When are the clues released? There will be 53 clues given during June. A clue will be given twice a day for June 1 thru June 24. There will be one clue in the morning (Between 7 AM and 8 AM) and a different clue in the evening (between 6 PM and 7 PM). We are using Central Standard Time. For June 25 thru June 29, one clue per day will be posted between 2 PM and 3 PM. The final clue will be the one posted on June 29. Then you will have until midnight on June 30 (CST!) to send in your answer Each clue will remain up for one hour after posting. After that, it will be deleted. Eligibility: The “Who Killed the Publisher Contest” (the “Contest”) is open to legal residents of the U.S., aged eighteen (18) or older as of the date of entry. Participation in the Contest constitutes entrant's full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these Official Rules & Regulations (“Official Contest Rules”). VOID WHERE PROHIBITED. Entries received from persons residing in geographic areas in which entry is not permissible will be disqualified. To enter the Contest, tell us who killed the publisher via email or tweet between 12:01 AM and 11:59 PM CST on 6/30/2009. The first five people submitting the correct answer will receive their choice of any print book published by Swimming Kangaroo Books. Any people after that submitting the correct answer before 11:59 PM CST on 6/30/09 will receive an eBook of their choice. One entry per person. Prizes: No cash or other substitution of prizes is permitted, except at the sole option of Sponsor for a prize of equal or greater value. Sponsor will not replace any lost or stolen prizes. Federal, state, provincial and local taxes, if any, and expenses not included in prize descriptions are the sole responsibilities of the winners and prize recipients. Contest rules and outcome are solely determined by Swimming Kangaroo Books. The correct response is determined solely by Swimming Kangaroo and is final. We cannot guarantee uninterrupted access to this website, or the sites it links to. We cannot accept responsibility for any damages, which arise from the loss of use of this information. We assume no liability for internet outages, email complications, or website difficulties that prevent someone from receiving all the clues to the contest or from sending a response within the required time limit or that may prevent someone from winning a prize. The Contest Organizer does not guarantee in any way that Internet sites related to the contest will be accessible or functional without interruption during the contest period or that these sites are free of any error. We assume no responsibility for an entrant's failure to understand any or all clues provided or for an entrant's assumptions that may lead to the entrant giving an incorrect response to the contest. Notification of Winners: Contest prize winners will be notified by e-mail within (5) business days of the determination of the prize winner. The name of the contest winners will be posted on Swimming Kangaroo sites including but not limited to the Contest Webpage, the Swimming Kangaroo Webpage, the sponsor's Facebook site, and on Swimming Kangaroo's newsletter. If a selected winner cannot be contacted, is ineligible, fails to claim a prize and/or where applicable an affidavit of eligibility and publicity/liability release is not timely received, is incomplete or modified, the prize may be forfeited and an alternate winner may be selected from remaining valid, eligible entries timely submitted. In the event of a dispute regarding who submitted an entry, the entry will be deemed submitted by the authorized account holder of the e-mail account specified in the entry. “Authorized account holder” is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, online service provider, or other organization (e.g., business, educational institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. No automatically generated entries will be accepted. By entering the Contest, you agree to be bound by these Official Rules. The Contest is offered by Swimming Kangaroo Books, which is not responsible for (i) late, lost, delayed, damaged, postage-due, incomplete, illegible, misdirected or undeliverable entries, responses, or other correspondence relating to the Contest, whether by e-mail or tweet or otherwise; (ii) theft, destruction, unauthorized access to or alterations of entry materials; or (iii) phone, electrical, network, computer, hardware, software program or transmission malfunctions, failures or difficulties. You further agree to release, indemnify, defend and hold Swimming Kangaroo Books and its parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, directors, officers, employees, sponsors and agents, including advertising and promotion agencies, and assigns, and any other organizations related to the Contest, harmless, from any and all claims, injuries, damages, expenses or losses to person or property and/or liabilities of any nature that in any way arise from participation in this Contest or acceptance or use of a prize or parts thereof. Winners agree to be bound by these Official Rules, and the decisions of the judges are final. In no event will Swimming Kangaroo Books be liable to you for any direct, special, incidental, exemplary, punitive or consequential damages (including loss of use, data, business or profits) arising out of or in connection with your participation in the Contest, whether such liability arises from any claim based upon contract, warranty, tort (including negligence), strict liability or otherwise, and whether or not Sponsor has been advised of the possibility of such loss or damage. Some jurisdictions do not allow the limitation or exclusion of liability for incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you. Additional Conditions: Except where prohibited, by participating in the Contest, entrant consents to the use of his/her name, for advertising and promotional purposes, including without limitation, inclusion in Sponsor newsletters, Contest blog, the Contest website at http://www.swimmingkangaroo.com without additional compensation. All entries, as applicable, become property of Sponsor and none will be acknowledged or returned. Allow six (6) to eight (8) weeks for delivery of prizes. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, modify or suspend the Contest in whole or in part, in the event of fraud, technical or other difficulties or if the integrity of the Contest is compromised, without liability to the entrant. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any entrant or winner, as determined by Sponsor, in its sole discretion. Contest is subject to these Official Rules and all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply. As stated above, the Contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law. By participating in this Contest, you acknowledge that you have read these official Rules and agree to abide by them and by the decisions of Sponsor, which are final and binding on all matters pertaining to the Contest. These Official Rules are governed by the law of the State of Texas, without reference to rules governing choice of laws. Any action, suit or case arising out of, or in connection with, this Contest or these Official Rules must be brought in either the federal courts located in the State of Texas of in Tarrant County, Texas. If a subsection of this regulation is declared or judged illegal, unenforceable or null by a competent court, this subsection then becomes null, but all other subsections not impacted will remain valid, as permitted by law.
